Was out shovelling 6 inches of ALgore's "global warmng"
out of my driveway and walk. This was on top of the
original 16 inches from last Saturday. It is now snowing
and sleeting AGAIN! 1000hrs 6 FEB 2010. GRRRRRrrrrrr!

And we are supposed to get MORE on Tuesday and EVEN
    MORE on next Saturday!!!!!

And WE are to the south where it is 'supposed' to be not
    as bad!

At least people here are not out "adult sleigh riding" in
their hoopties like up in the cities! The authorities are telling
everyone to STAY INSIDE unless you are emergency personnel
or snow removal personnel. Good advice!

As for the "poor people stuck in the ditches"....well...you were
TOLD to STAY INSIDE!!!! It's people like that who keep people
    like us employed!

MOVE TO MASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We get this like 3 times a year!!!! But dang this has been a boring winter! Hope you guys stay safe down south! I can't beleive this storm
Didn't hit us!!!!!!! Amazing! Lol 99% of the times the big storms are worse up north not down south! Well I guess complaining about why we didn't get any snow isn't going to help me. soooo ENJOY!!! Yes snow is fun, unless you don't have a snow blower ahahahahahaha. Stay safe.

Don't grin too much! This storm system is heading
right up the Atlantic coast! You very well may get
a "taste" of this yet! You're young and get to play
in it! It's different when you have to go out and
work in it and deal with the dummies that don't know
    how to act in it.

Enjoy it while you can. Sooner or later you'll see it
    differently.

WHOA!!!!! You might be right!!!!!! It's starting to very very very very very lightly snow here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And Fred......playing in it is over for meeeeeee!!! Now it's snowblowing like the entire street....don't get paid.....then walk around somewhat
    Close streets and
Shovel out hydrants......don't get paid......and then my gears wet for another week!!!! But still, it's alot better than summer..annnnnmddddd we get more calls this time of the year tooooo.....even if they are all MVA's lol

Yeah! And how would you like RUNNING CALLS in one of
those old open cab fire apparatus or riding the back step
in this weather??? BEEN THERE! DONE THAT!! LOTS!

Getting back tot he station with "snot-sickles" hanging off
of your face and those Red Ball gloves frozen to the back bar!
    YEAH!

Glad I'm not having to do that now! THOSE were the days!

Is there an SS under that snow drift Joe?

That's what mine looked like last year when I was in Pennsylvania.

Hey there Fishhunter! I hope you aren't confusing canopy cabs
with open cabs! I'm referring to OPEN cabs like as in my avatar!
That one was new the same day of the same month of the same
year that I started in the Fire Service as a Volunteer Firefighter.

If you guys had a truly OPEN apparatus still in service in this day
in age, I would LOVE to see a picture of it! WOW! Most of them
disappeared in the late 80s. Maybe a few rural departments might
still have one as a reserve. There WAS an open cab in service as
late as 2003 in PG County MD as a Water Supply Unit. It carried
LDH and other hose and usually ran driver-only or driver and officer
as it had no buckets (jump seats) and, naturally, you couldn't ride
the back step. This was not a first-out piece, but was special-called
    on large working fires.

CAN I HAVE THAT???? PLEEEEEZE????That would just right with a Federal Hill Light where the bar is and a Mars Light
or Roto-Ray on the nose! Love those old Maxims!

    SWEEEEET! Ride down memory lane!

OH! And yeah, I remember having to "shovel out" the driver's seat on those
rigs! Our ALFs were like that and we even had a couple of open cab GMCs
and Internationals still in the inventory when I started in the paid service!

I even had to drive my Seagrave a few times in the snow! Had to take it to
the garage a couple of times in the dead of winter! OH YEAH!!!

That's because you shovel with a quad

Just you wait. I've been firefighting longer then you have been alive, so I don't mind that my back hurts a little.

2 herniated discs years ago does not help either, but I keep the chiropractor happy
